Oak Harbor Public Library is open for pickup service. We also offer reference help over the phone, copy and fax services by appointment. Staff is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Patrons can take advantage of this service by reserving books online at: https://ohio.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/ohh/ or by phone at 419-898-7001. Once patrons are notified that materials are ready for pickup, please call the library at 419-898-7001 to schedule a pickup. Staff will then check out materials, put in a bag, and place them outside the library’s front door when they arrive at the library.
While we are eager to welcome the public back into the building, our main concern is the safety of our patrons and staff. Hopefully the following will answer some of the questions you may have about what the “new normal” looks like as we reopen the library.
How will the library reopen to the public?
Limited hours including evenings and Saturdays will begin in the near future. To allow proper distancing, the number of patrons allowed in the building will be limited and all patrons must use the front door (except those with special needs). We also ask that you limit your time in the library so other patrons have equal access. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. The furniture in the reading and children’s area will be off limits. Protective barriers have been installed on the checkout counter. The quiet and meeting rooms will remain closed. Sanitizing will be a priority.
Will I be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing?
Yes. If you don’t have a mask, the Library will provide one for you while you are in the library. We will continue to offer pickup service for those who can’t wear a mask.
What services will be available?
You will be able to browse the shelves and checkout our selection of books, newspapers, magazines, and movies. The Library also has free Internet Hotspots with 2-week loan periods. Computer use will be limited to essential business only. We ask that you call in advance and reserve a computer. We will also offer copying and fax services. Interlibrary loans will not be available at this time. You can, however, continue to return items from other libraries in the SEO system. In addition, our online resources will remain available 24/7.
Can I still use your pickup service?
Anyone who prefers to use our pickup service can call 419-898-7001 Monday – Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
